Get Trained. Get Equipped. Get Going!
Have you ever felt fearful or inadequate when it comes to talking to others about spiritual things? You’re in good company–so was the apostle Paul:
“When I came to you, I was weak and shook with fear. My teaching and my speaking were not with wise words that persuade people.” 1 Corinthians 2:3-5
Like someone starting a job in a new field, we often fear what we have not been adequately trained to do. When it comes to being a witness for Jesus Christ, our prayer is that you seek out proper training for this 24/7 responsibility. We want to become like Paul who said:
“I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.” 1 Corinthians 9:22-23
We offer biblical evangelism training (see below), so take advantage of it!
Any experienced fisherman can tell you that fishing requires more than simply knowing where to find the fish and how to catch them; fishing also requires acquiring the proper gear to get the job done. Likewise, being trained with the “know how” of evangelism is one thing, but before you “get going,” you should pack accordingly.
Being equipped for evangelism may look different for each person. Maybe you’d like to have a Bible, gospel tracts, church brochures, or a personal contact card to leave with people (contact us for some free resources). Regardless of what you bring, equip yourself with spiritual resources by soliciting God for wisdom and putting on the full armor of God:
“Put on the whole armor of God…For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God…Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith…and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication.” Ephesians 6:11-18
“And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” Romans 10:14-15
Although you are encouraged to begin reaching out to those around you (neighbors, friends, family, co-workers, classmates, etc.), you can also contact us to learn more about our church planned “evangelism excursions” where you can join us in sharing the gospel in and around the community.
Roots: Evangelism Training
This 6-week video-driven series (Sundays at 9:00am) is helping Christians of all ages sink their roots down deep into God’s Word as they become strengthened and equipped to go and preach the gospel.
Roots is hosted by Kirk Cameron and follows Ray Comfort and his faithful team as they visit 13 European countries in just 13 days, sharing the gospel with individuals and crowds in each country.
Watching examples of witnessing encounters will inspire you to have the boldness to publicly preach the gospel–wherever God places you.
Additionally, you will be captivated as you see members of the team being held by Italian police, learn why evolution is a fairytale for grownups, and get answers to some of life’s toughest questions, such as “Hasn’t Christianity caused more wars than anything else?” and “Why does God allow bad things to happen to good people?”
WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING
“Ray and Kirk always do great work. [Roots] is made in a way that is interesting, engaging, and helpful…”
~Sean McDowell, Educator, Speaker, and the Author of Apologetics for a New Generation
“Our country is in turmoil and our society has lost its moral compass – the times may be different than when I grew up, but the message of Jesus Christ remains relevant and timeless, no matter what the state of our culture. This is why I’m excited [about] Roots – this training program gives people a firm handle, as well as appropriate language, for communicating the Gospel of Christ.”
~Joni Eareckson Tada, Joni and Friends International Disability Center
“Roots is a brilliant introduction for anyone desiring to follow Christ’s example in sharing the Gospel with the multitudes. This series is full of powerful examples of actual gospel presentations as well as easy to follow explanations to many theological and controversial questions that you might encounter during evangelism. Roots will challenge and encourage you to be bold in your faith and to see day-to-day life as an opportunity to impact eternity.”
~K.P. Yohannan, Gospel For Asia
