In November of 1996, Emmanuel Faith Church
of Escondido, CA planted Faith Community Church
by the Sea on the Coast of San Diego County with the mission of "Reaching the Coast
for Christ." Following six years of meeting at The Del Mar Hilton, we moved to a
new worship location at Ada Harris Elementary School in Cardiff by the
Sea. Six years after that we moved to the Encinitas Community Center
in Encinitas, where we currently hold our services. In addition, God has enabled us to
purchase 7.73 acres of land immediately adjacent I-5 and Leucadia Blvd for future development
as our new church home.
We hope in the near future to obtain the Conditional Use Permit (C.U.P.) from the city
of Encinitas and begin building the new home of Faith Community Church by the Sea at
680 Normandy Rd, in Encinitas, CA.
It is also our belief that God will continue to bring together a broad coalition of men and
women, who are committed to Him and to the preaching of His word to support this new work.
We anticipate that God will use people who want to live out lives of devotion, passionate
people who want to help build a strong evangelical church that will reach people for Jesus
Christ along the I-5 corridor here in North San Diego County. We believe God will use our
mental, spiritual, financial, physical, and emotional energies to create a place where people
can come to be spiritually healed and tangibly helped with the Love and Grace of God.
We believe the surrounding community is ready for an evangelical church that is devoted to
understanding and meeting felt needs in the name of Christ.
According to Percept Ministries and their Ministry Area Profile (based on the U.S. Census Bureau,
Claritas, the WEFA Group, and the National Ethos Survey Series) the primary spiritual concerns in
the Encinitas area are:
| |
- Dealing with Stress
- Finding Companionship
- Finding Direction in Life
- Finding Spiritual Teaching
|
As well, the primary hopes and Dreams of people living in Encinitas are:
| |
- Achieving Long-term Financial Security
- Finding Time for Recreation
- Achieving a Fulfilling Marriage
- Finding Better Quality Healthcare
- Finding a satisfying job/Career
|
Some of the typical family problems of the area are:
| |
- Neighborhood Crime and Safety
- Finding Good Schools
- Dealing with Racial and Ethnic Prejudice
- Dealing with problems in schools
|
These are all issues to which the Bible speaks and to which we believe we can and should address
aspects of our ministries.
With the non-denominational identity of our church, the average age of our church being
close in age to the surrounding community, and our desire to reach out to people with the love
and truths of Jesus Christ, we feel we are well suited to minister to this area.
We have recently revitalized our church purpose and tightly focused it on the importance
of living our lives out of devotion rather than in reaction to life's demands or from
obligation to someone's request. Based on Jesus' life, teachings, and the Biblical pattern
we teach our members to understand the three primary devotions to which God calls His
people: Devotion to God, Devotion to God's people, and Devotion to our World. We encourage
our members to consider which of these three areas of our church life and ministry they
feel most passionate about. They are then invited to meet and work with our Elder leadership
contributing their ideas, energies, and abilities to the growth of that ministry area.
We are committed to living our lives of devotion and invite you to join us.
