Update from Joe Maschoff - August 2008

Dear Friend -

This week and next is the first day of classes for the semester-schedule campuses we are on. Staff and students will be inviting new students of all types into a deeper knowledge of, commitment to, and experience of Jesus Christ. I thought I'd try to give you a quick snapshot of each of them and something to pray. This note is longer than usual.

PLEASE PRAY FOR THE TEAMS AT:

RIO HONDO COLLEGE
In its 2nd year, this ministry is at a junior college in eastern LA that is 70% Hispanic. For us, it is cutting edge and all demographic indicators tell us it represents our future target schools. ASK GOD TO GIVE GREAT CREATIVITY TO OUR TEAM THERE IN MEETING NEW STUDENTS THIS WEEK.

CAL STATE - LONG BEACH
This is one of our original ministries and has been so fruitful over the last 20 years. The ministry is poised for another season of great fruitfulness with great student leaders and a many new, gifted, and anointed staff. PRAY THAT GOD WILL POUR HIS SPIRIT OUT ON THE LB TEAM.

UNIVERSITY OF HAWAI'I
This is the first year of this ministry and this is the first week of classes! We have two young men that I have great confidence in that moved there to pioneer this work. God's hand is clearly on them. PRAY THAT GOD WILL BLESS THEM WITH LOCAL CONNECTIONS WITH STUDENTS UNUSUALLY QUICKLY AND EARLY. PRAY FOR PROTECTION FOR THESE TWO GUYS, AS WELL.

SAN DIEGO STATE
Last year was a hard year for this ministry at what I think is our spiritually hardest campus. But there is a great staff team and some committed student leaders there. PRAY THAT A NEW GENERATION OF LEADERS AND LABORERS WILL EMERGE FROM SDSU AND THAT THE NAVIGATORS WOULD MEET WHO THEY WILL BE THIS NEXT WEEK!

ARIZONA
STATE Like Long Beach, there is a veteran staff leader here surrounded by young student leaders and staff. They are poised for great growth this year - but God is the one who does it. WILL YOU ASK THE LORD TO BLESS AND "INHABIT" THEIR EFFORTS?

THE UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA
In terms of numbers of students involved, U of A is our largest ministry and has just "given" laborers (graduated students and sent staff) all over our region as well as to the marketplace. PLEASE PRAY THAT GOD WOULD BLESS THEIR GENEROSITY AND OPENHANDEDNESS AND "RE-LOAD" THE WORK THERE.

May His Kingdom advance this fall through these wonderful teams. I am so honored to work with the quality of staff and students here. I wish I could tell you about each staff and student - about their commitment to Christ, the sacrifices they've made, and about the hopes and dreams they have. What a team! Thanks for praying for us.

We walk by faith, as the true impact of our work here won't fully be known until we are with Him. In the meantime, just like you and in what your are called to, we trust and follow. May He give birth to spiritual generations that will reverberate across this region, our nation, and the world.

For the King,

   - Joe
