Update from Joe Maschoff - September 2008

Dear Friend - This week and next is the first day of classes for the quarter-schedule campuses we are on here in the Sunland. Staff and students will be inviting new students of all types into a deeper knowledge of, commitment to, and experience of Jesus Christ. As I did a month ago with our semester-schedule campuses, I thought I'd try to give you a quick snapshot of each of our "quarters schools" and something to pray. This note is a bit longer than usual. UC - RIVERSIDE This ministry is in its 2nd year. The staff there experienced enormous personal tragedy last year (its first year of existence), but are doing amazingly well (please pray for the safe delivery of their baby - now in month 8!). The campus is ~80% non-white in its ethnicity and presents a very strategic opportunity for broadening who we reach. PLEASE PRAY THAT GOD WOULD BLESS THE DEAR COUPLE LEADING THIS WORK AND THAT HIS SPIRIT WOULD MOVE POWERFULLY AT UCR. UC - IRVINE This is one of our original ministries and has been very fruitful in the last 10 years. The team is strong, diverse, and multi-gifted. I am praying that God will use our UCI team to raise up many generations of laborers for the nations. PLEASE JOIN ME IN PRAYING FOR WORKERS FOR THE NATIONS FROM UCI. UC - SAN DIEGO A couple that comes from this ministry when I led it (1999-2002) is leading it now. I am eager to see how God will lead and bless them, as we have struggled some (until now) to have the right team there in the last few years. UCSD is steadily moving up the charts, academically, as one of the better public universities in the U.S. We have a unique opportunity to influence many brilliant people. PLEASE PRAY THAT GOD WILL GROW THAT WORK TO HIS GLORY AND SET UP DIVINE APPOINTMENTS FOR THE KINGDOM TO GROW. UCLA We have a wonderful couple there - newly married, leading this resurgent work. God is blessing us at this high-profile campus. I know that our staff and students are praying for foundational people from whom generations will come forth. PLEASE PRAY FOR UNUSUAL GRACE IN MEETING THE RIGHT STUDENTS THIS COMING WEEK. ASK GOD TO GROW HIS INFLUENCE THERE AND USE THE NAVIGATORS TO DO IT. CAL POLY - SAN LUIS OBISPO I am so excited about what God is doing through our team at Cal Poly. It is our only true "college-town" campus and the Navigators have a long history there. In the last few years, our team has seen great fruit. Architects and Engineers seem to pour out of Poly. PRAY THAT GOD WILL POUR OUT HIS SPIRIT ON THIS CAMPUS AND RAISE UP A NEW GENERATION OF LEADERS AND LABORERS FOR THE WHOLE BODY OF CHRIST. Thank you for praying for us as we launch our schoolyear.
