Purpose & Core Values


  Our Purpose...

"Faith Community Church by the Sea exists to call people into a growing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ through our Devotion to God, His people, and our world."

  Having a Devotion to God means:
  ...Living as if the most important thing in my life is to know, love, honor and obey God no matter what the cost.
  Having a Devotion to God's people means:
  ...Living as if the most important thing in my life is to treat others better than myself.
  Having a Devotion to Our World means:
  ...Living as if the most important thing in my life is to demonstrate God's love and to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with everyone I meet.


Based on this mission and vision every member of our congregation is encouraged both to live out their devotion to God in each of these ways, but also to ask themselves which of these three areas of our church life they feel most passionate about and then to get involved as a minister serving in a ministry team in that area of devotion.

Some of us will most desire to see people grow deeply in their devotion to God and His word, and so we will become a part of the team promoting "Devotion to God". Others will most deeply feel a passionate interest in helping God's people live out lives of mutual compassion, care, love, and service toward each other and they will become a part of the team promoting "Devotion to God's People".

Still others will feel a huge compassion for the lost and hurting people in our community and around the world. They will become a part of the team of people promoting "Devotion to Our World" and reaching it with God's help and hope through the Gospel story.
1 Peter 4:10-11
Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

As a result of this purpose, every member of our congregation will experience an amazing environment, experiencing firsthand what happens when God's people live with passion seeking the same purposes for which Christ lived: to love God with all the heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbor as ourselves.

They will experience what the believers saw and felt when the "church" was brand new…
Acts 2:42-47
They DEVOTED themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Each month, our ministry teams meet and brainstorm with all of the believers in our church who are committed to their area of ministry and this vision. They will pray for God's blessing and effectiveness, evaluate what is currently happening, plan ways to improve, and finally work together to accomplish the agreed upon goals.

  All ministries of Faith Community church contribute to disciple-making and personal spiritual transformation into the likeness of Christ through the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit, the Scriptures and through loving accountable relationships.
  H   Hope for a Broken World through New Life in Christ & His Gospel
  We seek to live out our faith in a broken world and in love, to engage people in the Scriptures to help them come to new life in Christ.
