Iraqi Cooking Class

Come learn how to cook delicious Iraqi food! We will be learning how to make Kebabs, Red Lentil Soup, and delicious cheesy rolls.

Lunch will be served!

We will also learn about the struggle of the Iraqi refugees.

There is no charge to register, but a free-will offering basket will be placed at the event to help cover the costs and to bless the family and their Iraqi Church in El Cajon.

Please note that the event will be located in the clubhouse at Lake San Marcos, but access will be through the home of the Demarees (917 La Fiesta Drive, Lake San Marcos, 92078).

The deadline to register is November 29, but the sooner the better!

Carpooling will help with parking. Friends are welcome but all guests need to register.

Fall Family Fellowship

Fall is here and we hope you will be too–for our Fall Family Fellowship on Sunday, November 4.

After our 10:30am Worship Service, we will enjoy a chili potluck with lots of sides and fixin’s (baked potatoes, cornbread, salad, etc.)

This won’t just be any chili–this will be chili from participants in our chili cook-off who are submitting their very best recipes for your enjoyment.

Go here to let us know we can count on you to bring chili to share!

For the rest of us who’d like to attend but not submit chili for the cook-off, we’d ask that you bring a side or dessert to share.

Use the chart below to determine what kind of item to bring.

If your last name begins with the letter…

A-H: Bring a bread item (corn bread, rolls, etc.)

I-Q: Bring a salad (green, pasta, potato, etc.)

R-Z: Bring a dessert

Go here to let us know you’re coming and what you plant to bring.

Following the potluck lunch, there will be a variety of activities for the whole family to enjoy, including a bounce house, field games, a pie eating contest, a craft station, and more!

How to Pack & Deliver Your Shoebox Gifts!

Find a Shoebox

Start with an average-size cardboard or plastic shoebox. If you want to wrap it, cover the box and lid separately. Or pick-up a box at church.

Girl or Boy?

Decide whether you will pack a box for a girl or a boy, and the age category.

Can’t decide? Feel free to build multiple shoebox gifts! The more the merrier!

Fill with Gifts

Select a quality “wow” toy such as a doll, soccer ball with pump, or stuffed animal.

Then add other fun toys, hygiene items, and school supplies. See gift “DOs and DON’Ts” here.

Pray

Most importantly, pray for the child who will receive your Operation Christmas Child shoebox gift. You can also include a personal note and photo.

$9 Tracking Labels

Donate $9 online and receive a tracking label to Follow Your Box and discover the destination of your shoebox gift.

Alternatively, you can use the labels from the printed brochure and send a check or cash in the envelope (provided in the brochure)1

Drop-Off

Take your shoebox gift(s) to Faith Community Church on Sunday, Nov. 11 or 18 (between 9:30am-12:30pm) or during normal weekday operating hours by Nov. 16.

Progressive Prayer (Apr. 29)

After church on Sunday, April 29, we hope you will stay for a progressive prayer and lunch event.

Following our 10:30am Family Worship Service, we will meet back in the sanctuary (12:00pm) for a time of corporate prayer together before splitting into groups and rotating through stations at the church (lobby, lawn, children’s wing, etc.) to pray for people and ministries unique to each area.

A “progressive lunch” will be served throughout (something at each station).

Parents and kids are encouraged to take this opportunity to pray together as a family. Cards will be given to kids to get stamped at each station (& get a prize for completion!).

As we continue to focus on our church theme for the year (3,2,1…GO!), one of our goals is to be more intentional about praying for the lost. April 29 is an opportunity to do just that, so mark your calendars.
